Determining of the working tension of a brick masonry
Determining of the work tension of a ceramic masonry "in situ" by means of the placement of a flat-jack
The flat-jack essay allows to determine the real work tension of the masonry. This is an "in situ" test that can not be considered destructive. Parallel measuring points are placed (1), a horizontal cut is made at the masonry (2) and the flat-jack (3) is placed. Steps of loads are applied and the deformation is measured (4). When reaching the distance between measurement points equal to the initial one, the work tension of the masonry is obtained.
